If you’re new to Jiu-Jitsu, playing guard can feel uncomfortable at first. This is totally normal—many techniques in Jiu-Jitsu can feel counterintuitive! 🤔 But don’t worry, with time and practice, you’ll build the confidence you need to play guard effectively.
To improve your guard, it’s important to master basic movements like bridge, hip escape, and leg pummeling—these are the foundational movements we practice during warm-ups at the beginning of class. 🏋️♂️
And remember, don’t be afraid to make mistakes on the mats. Every higher belt has made plenty of mistakes when they were beginners, and that’s how they got better!
Keep showing up, keep practicing, and the confidence will come. 💪
