Jiu-jitsu can be a complicated conundrum to solve. So many new positions to familiarise yourself with and at times an almost unfathomable amount of new vocabulary to learn. However, linking things you are learning to things you already know can help make them more memorable. This week the kids have been investigating how to control an opponent in the open guard by using their spider guards. Although I’ve never looked at it as a dab with my legs, I can see where they’re are coming from, and if it helps them remember it, then I’m all for it!
